Let's Talk CBD and Hemp Oil
I’ve been talking about CBD for quite some time here, but there is SO much to talk about. I want my blog to be informative and help my clients (or non-clients) understand the vast world of CBD and natural skin care options. There is an obvious “green rush” of cannabis-inspired products flooding the market, especially in the beauty industry. CBD may be newer to the shelves because of its recent legalization, but hemp has been around for centuries – is there a difference? The answer is YES and I’ll elaborate: When CBD oil and hempseed oil are put side by side, a lot of misleading labeling happens.
If you’re not sure what Cannabis is, check out a few of my previous blogs, I talk about this at length. But in summary, Cannabis is the plant species and the phenotypes are Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) and Cannabis Indica (Marijuana).
Here’s a helpful table from healthline that helps explain the main differences between CBD oil and Hempseed oil:
These two ingredients are both trending in the beauty world right now, but it’s important to understand the difference or work with a skin care professional who deeply understands the difference. Hempseed oil has been around for a long time and is well-known for not clogging pores and having anti-inflammatory properties. New research is constantly revealing all of the skin-related benefits of CBD. As of now, it’s also a powerful anti-inflammatory, but it’s also great for treatment on acne, sensitive skin, rashes, eczema, psoriasis and more.
You may notice that CBD products may cost more than Hempseed products, but it’s not always worth the extra cash. It’s important to decipher labels within this new trend, but know that when you visit my shop that all of my products have been thoroughly vetted and offer the best results with quality products at affordable prices. Bottom line is that you want to know what you’re paying for whether it be CBD or Hemp, read the labels!
